5th REGIONAL COMMAND
UNITED STATES VOLUNTEERS JOINT SERVICES COMMAND

ABOUT THE U.S. VOLUNTEERS

The U.S. Volunteers - Joint Services Command (USV-JSC) draws on the proud heritage of the U.S. Volunteers, authorized by the U.S. Congress as a component separate from the regular Army and state militias.

Today, the USV-JSC has the same legal standing and scope as the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Civil Air Patrol.

Commanders are appointed by the Board of Directors and National Headquarters Staff and are entrusted with upholding the standards, policies, procedures, and regulations of the USV-JSC.

We are an organization focused on augmenting the Regular and Reserve forces in two areas. First, the USV-JSC provides trained and uniformed volunteers who may be called upon to render final military honors to deceased veterans at national and local cemeteries. Second, the USV-JSC fills the gap when and where needed by proper authority in incidents of natural disasters.

Over the years, the USV-JSC has proven itself to be a professional and seamless addition to Military Funeral Honors.  The USV-JSC has also proven its worth in emergency preparation and response.  Every year, units across the country participate in a nationwide emergency response exercise.  We also successfully conducted a real-world response to the Washington State Floods of December 2025.

The U.S. Volunteers take great pride in their history and look forward to the future as we standup new units throughout the county.
